The mhGAP strives to escalate mental health care and integrate mental health services into the primary care level. The program focuses on covering the gap between the services and the needs in low and middle-income countries. Ethiopia is one of the first 6 countries chosen to implement the WHO's mhGAP initiative. This video explains the many ways in which the mhGAP initiative is improving mental health in the country. The idea is that by scaling up mental health services and integrating them, services will be provided to a wider population. It is a long-term process that has started strong and expects to reach everyone with mental, neurological and substance-abuse disorders in Ethiopia in a few years' time. Different people involved in the project tell us about its implementation in this brief documentary hosted by Dr. Tedla Giorgis of the Ethiopian Ministry of Health.
